There are lots of them around Copenhagen where I live, and the mute swan is both the national bird of Denmark, and the main character in one of the most known fairy tales by the Danish writer H.C Andersen
The fairytale is called the ugly duckling and is the story of a tiny duckling ( Swanling) that goes through a lot of hardship, before it realize it is a swan… It is a story all kids in Denmark grows up with
